Field Trip Information
How to Sign Up
- Be sure you can go and want to go. . .cancellations are not encouraged. Refunds may not be available for trips where tickets must be purchased.
- Come to Venture and see Sheila or Michaline. Sign your name and the name of any adults attending on the field trip envelope. Any fees must be paid at time of signup.
- Indicate how you’re getting to the field trip site—-meeting there or traveling from Venture.
- Indicate if adults can drive other students and how many (if this is a private car field trip).
FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, 2010 - Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, San Jose
- Grades 5-12
- 11:30am - 2:00pm
- $12.50 per person, students and adults
- A 90 minute docent-guided tour of this unique museum which houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts west of the Mississippi.
- Highlight of the visit is a tour through a replica of Khnumhotep's Royal Tomb.
- Because this tour covers the lunch hour, it is suggested that you arrive early and eat a picnic lunch on the museum grounds.
- Transportation by private cars

THURSDAY, MARCH 4 - Ride Amtrak to Old Town Sacramento
THIS FIELD TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED

- 8:30am - 3:10pm
- $14 per person, students and adults (includes rail fare and all activities)
- Only 45 tickets available
- Transportation to Martinez by private cars
Take the 8:34am Capitol Corridor train from Martinez to Old Town Sacramento. Start our tour in the Eagle Theater, built in 1849 and the first public building in Sacramento. We will have a 40 minute presentation about the Gold Rush and entertainment of the time period. Then take a 60 minute walking tour of Old Town learning an overview of early Sacramento and California history from 1848 through the railroads in 1870. Enjoy and hour for lunch and shopping, then visit the California State Railroad Museum where you will see 21 restored locomotives and railroad cars. Leave Sacramento on the 2:10pm train arriving at Martinez at 3:10pm.
